Thomas Black, MD, is co-founder and managing partner of Napali Capital, author of “The Passive Income Physician: Surviving a Career Crisis by Expanding Net Worth,” and a board-certified emergency medicine physician. He began his career in real estate overseeing residential mortgage loans at Wells Fargo Financial as an undergraduate. Following graduation from medical school, he began investing in real estate, eventually shifting his focus from single-family to commercial real estate and private equity investing. To date he has successfully transacted in over 300 million dollars in real estate and Napali Capital was named #21 on the 2020 INC 5000 list.
Thomas is a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces serving in the Navy, Army and Air Force. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where was selected as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and a graduate of the honors in research program. He then completed his residency at Indiana University Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Additionally, he is graduate of Harvard Business School’s private equity and real estate program and currently completing a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. He continues to practice emergency medicine in the North Texas region and is the President of the Baylor Scott and White Emergency Physician Group.
Thomas is featured in Forbes magazine and sits on the boards of the University of North Texas, Gallant Few military charity and Pine and Company CPA tax firm.
